Presentation

The high pressure and high temperature laboratory was created in 1985 by the Carburos Metálicos S.A. company and the ICMAB-CSIC to promote, research and develop new applications of supercritical fluids and gases at high pressure and temperature.

The laboratory is part of a collaboration policy between private companies and public research centres that Carburos Metálicos and ICMAB have been developing for some time through research, promotion and technology and collaboration exchange agreements among the different working groups.

The laboratory’s move to new MATGAS facilities and its expansion with new equipment and reactors, has, undoubtedly, created one of the most complete supercritical fluids research plants in Spain.

Characteristics

The laboratory currently has 5 plants which provide the setting for a range of research activities with 10-ml to 16-litre volumes, and pressures from 500 bar to 400ºC
