Seminar: Thermodynamics of Mesoscopic Fluctuations In Soft Matter

Image
Prof. Mikhail Anasimov
By Prof. Mikhail ANISIMOV

Dept.of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. University of Maryland (USA)

Phase equilibria in soft-matter materials, such as complex fluids, are often dominated by mesoscopic fluctuations, which make the description of very different systems universal and thus relatively simple. In our presentation we explain how mesoscopic fluctuations affect the nature of phase equilibria in complex fluids and fundamentally change thermodynamics of curved surfaces.

Date: May 22th 12:00 h

Place: MATGAS meeting room
