Dear friends and colleagues,

It is a pleasure for me to invite you to participate at the "MATGAS Seminar Series on CO2 and related issues" that we are organizing at MatGas. The objective of this seminar series is to acquire a solid knowledge of the state of the art in the field of CO2 capture, utilization and energy issues associated to environmentally benign energy technologies. We will invite internationally recognized experts on CO2 capture, sequestration, utilization and energy connected issues (including hydrogen) with different and complementary perspectives: from fundamental knowledge to well developed technologies, enlightening the issues and challenges on this relevant topic. The seminars will be held on monthly basis at the MatGas building (Campus Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona, in front of the Firework Station).

Professor Alain Demourgues, from ICMCB-CNRS-University of Bordeaux, is going to give the first seminar of this series, under the title: "The impact of solid state chemistry in reactivity of solids redox and lewis acid-base properties in rare-earth, transition metals and Al-based compounds for applications in heterogeneous catalysis". The seminar will be held on Friday, December 14th, at noon. Enclosed, please, find additional details on this presentation.

MatGas is a non-profit, research organization, born as a joint venture among Carburos Metálicos- Group Air Products, the National Research Council of Spain (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas-CSIC) and the Autonomous University of Barcelona (Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona-UAB). Further information about our research work and facilities can be found at our web page: http://www.matgas.com

You are cordially invited to participate in this seminar series.
