NOTE: We would be grateful if you can confirm your attendance to Ms. Montse Salas, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . We are looking forward to meeting you at the seminar. MatGas, a non-profit, research organization, born as a joint venture among Carburos Metálicos- Air Products Group, the National Research Council of Spain (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas-CSIC) and the Autonomous University of Barcelona (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona-UAB) holds a Seminar Series on CO2 and related issues since the end of 2007, on monthly basis. This is one of the actions taken since the new focus, with the objective to become a center of excellence in CO2. MatGas aims at contributing at different levels in the research and development of technologies for CO2 capture and utilization, working in the improvement of green technologies, friendly with the environment. The objective of this series of seminars is to acquire and divulgate a solid knowledge of the state of the art in the field of CO2 capture, utilization and energy issues associated to environmentally benign energy technology. Several international experts on CO2 capture, sequestration, utilization and energy connected issues (including hydrogen) have been and will invited to participate at this series. Their expertise gives a broad perspective to the subject: from fundamental knowledge to well-developed technologies. The complementary approach will enlighten the issues and challenges on this relevant topic.
The seminar series was inaugurated on December 2007. A list of invited speakers who already participated includes: • Prof. Jan V. Sengers, Distinguished University Professor Emeritus and Research Professor Statistical Physics, Institut for Physical Science and Technology, University of Maryland (USA)
These seminars are held on monthly basis at the MatGas building (Campus Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona), if you want to receive information, please contact Ms. Montse Salas, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
Short Bio
The research developed is on membrane synthesis and characterisation, and membrane processes, also related to microencapsulation. In that sense he has advised 4 PhD students in the topics of black liquors filtration, polymeric membrane synthesis and characterisation, membranes for fuel cells and the modelling of the synthesis of polymeric membranes and microcapsules. As a result, he has more than 50 publications including articles at international journals, some book chapters in the fields of Membranes and also Teaching in Chemical Engineering, and some articles at national level in the field of microreactors and Chemical Production. At the present time is advising 4 PhD theses and 2 master projects in the field of microtechnology, microencapsulation and membrane technology.
